Predictions in english Чемпионат Англии от BBC
Понедельник, 26 Декабрь 2011

Chelsea v Fulham Chelsea v Fulham (1300 GMT)

Chelsea are enjoying a good run of form and they were impressive against Tottenham on Thursday night, but they are still not the team they were a couple of years ago.

The thing about their display at Wigan last weekend was that Chelsea thought - a little bit naively - that they had done enough. On the day, I felt that one or two players weren't putting enough in for the team, and one of those would have been Didier Drogba.

When Chelsea went 1-0 up, if they had knuckled down and gone for it they would have won that match, but they went into cruise-control instead. Credit to Wigan, they came back, changed their system and they got the draw.

Fulham come into this game on the back of their 5-0 home defeat by Manchester United on Wednesday, which was a game United won so easily it was frightening. This is a local derby and will be tricky because of that, but I still see Chelsea winning fairly comfortably.

I think Fulham will be fine. They might not beat the top teams but, with players up front of the ability of Clint Dempsey, Moussa Dembele, Bobby Zamora, Andrew Johnson and Bryan Ruiz, they are going to win enough games to be comfortable in the Premier League.

Prediction: 2-0

Match Preview

Arsenal v Wolves Arsenal v Wolves

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is only two goals short of Alan Shearer's record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year, and he has got two games left to break it: this one and the Gunners' home game against QPR on New Year's Eve.

Sometimes, when you are desperate to beat a record and get so close, it makes actually crossing the line harder, but what might help Van Persie is that he will be up against a Wolves side who have not travelled well against the top teams this season.

Arsenal are back at the stage where they are comfortable in terms of knowing how to beat most of the sides in the Premier League. Wolves have been struggling of late, and have only taken one point from their last two home games, which is bad enough. I cannot possibly tip them to get anything at the Emirates.

The Gunners are in form but they remain on the fringes of the title race, and I do think the top two of Manchester City and Manchester United are going to move clear in the new year.

But Arsene Wenger's side are playing for a Champions League place, and, of course, they are still in that competition this season too.

In all honesty, their situation is pretty healthy if you remember that, in the last week in September, most of their fans wanted the manager out and thought they weren't going to finish in the top six. You have to give them credit for the way they have been playing for the last couple of months.

Prediction: 2-0

Match preview

Bolton v Newcastle Bolton v Newcastle

Newcastle haven't won in six games but they are still playing some good football, and the quality of Demba Ba's goals in Wednesday's defeat by West Brom was outstanding.

Bolton's win over Blackburn on Tuesday was massive for them and for manager Owen Coyle, and the encouraging thing for him is that they could have won that game more comfortably.

But it looks like they are going to But it looks like they are going to lose defender Gary Cahill in January, which is a major blow for them, and I am still not sure where their goals are going to come from at the other end either.

Both sides could really do with the win but I can see the points being shared in this one.

Prediction: 1-1

Match Preview

Liverpool v Blackburn Liverpool v Blackburn

For me, all of Blackburn's problems are down to the club's owners, the Venky's.

It's all very well the fans calling for manager Steve Kean to leave but he was put in a position where he had to take the job and he has been given no support from the owners, who are nowhere to be seen.

I don't understand why the fans are protesting during the games too. Do it before or afterwards, but when the game is on their team needs their backing. It's a shambles all round and it's a real shame. You look at it and you think 'this is the year Rovers are going to go down'.

Liverpool will just be glad to get back to playing while the Luis Suarez saga rumbles on, and he is eligible until they decide whether to appeal against his eight-game ban.

Until we hear or see the explanation for his punishment then we won't really know the reasoning behind it. Obviously the Football Association are totally convinced he is guilty and have punished him accordingly.

It is a huge blow for Liverpool to lose him because he has had the same influence for them as David Silva has had for Manchester City this season. Suarez is that important.

Will Suarez's absence mean we will see more of Andy Carroll? I am not so sure.

I would play Craig Bellamy down the middle instead, and I think the likes of Dirk Kuyt might be hoping to get a look in too. There is a possibility for Carroll, of course, and if there is a chance then it is up to him to take it.

Prediction: 2-0

Match Preview

Man United v Wigan Man United v Wigan

Wigan have enjoyed two very good results against Chelsea and Liverpool in the past few days - the only problem for them is that they have only picked up two points, when they probably think they could have got more.

Now the Latics have to go to Old Trafford, just to complete an extraordinarily tough sequence of matches, and I cannot see them being out of the bottom three when the festive period is over.

I really fancy Manchester United to win here. I know they picked up a couple more injuries to Phil Jones and Ashley Young against Fulham in midweek, but they have got so much quality in their squad that I think whoever comes in will maintain their form.

It's amazing that the only Premier League points they have dropped in their eight games since that 6-1 derby defeat in October came in a home draw against Newcastle that they deserved to win.

Prediction: 2-0

Match Preview

Sunderland v Everton Sunderland v Everton

Sunderland picked up a fully deserved win at QPR on Wednesday. They created lots of chances and could have wrapped the game up much earlier and more easily than they did.

You can already see the effect that Martin O'Neill's arrival as manager is having on them.

He will be challenging every member of his squad, trying to get more out of them, and I thought Nicklas Bendtner, for one, was much more impressive at Loftus Road than he had been previously this season. With a couple of additions in the January transfer window, I can see the Black Cats rising quickly up the table.

As for Everton, well it is like Groundhog Day every time I see them - they make chance after chance but cannot take them. The Toffees really needed that win over Swansea on Wednesday but it does not change the fact the only thing they are missing is goals.

I'm going for a draw here, which will continue Sunderland's improvement. Everton would probably take a point as well.

Prediction: 1-1

Match preview

West Brom v Man City West Brom v Man City

West Brom scored some cracking goals in their last two games at Blackburn and Newcastle with some top-class attacking football of the highest order - the kind you associate with their manager Roy Hodgson.

But they are up against Manchester City here, and City give you an examination across the pitch. Stoke went to the Etihad on Wednesday night and sat back, which is the worst thing they could have done - that game was all over by half-time if not before. and sat back, which is the worst thing they could have done - that game was all over by half-time if not before.

City can rotate and change games off the bench. I see them taking the three points in this game too, although the freedom with which West Brom are playing at the moment might mean it will be a bit closer than people think.

City manager Roberto Mancini will be extremely happy - not just because City are top at Christmas, or the way they play, the goals they have scored and the strength of his squad, but also how he has managed to get a lot of players out that he doesn't want.

Craig Bellamy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz have all been shipped out and Mancini has got his dressing room sorted out the way he wants it.

Carlos Tevez is still there, for now, but it is significant that people are not talking about him as much. Mancini handled it brilliantly the other day when he was asked what Tevez is doing at the moment and he said 'playing golf, I think'. It was a clever way of saying 'who's bothered?'

Prediction: 1-2

Match preview

Stoke v Aston Villa Stoke v Aston Villa (1945 GMT)

Stoke were on a really good run until they were outplayed by Manchester City on Wednesday but Potters boss Tony Pulis made quite a few changes for that game and I think he did so with this match in mind.

Matthew Etherington didn't play at the Etihad and he will be back, as will Ryan Shawcross, who was suspended, and possibly Peter Crouch, who was ill.

Villa's performance against Liverpool last weekend was disappointing but they should have got something out of their game against Arsenal in midweek. If you are a Villa fan, you must be wondering why they can't play the way they did against the Gunners regularly, and be ultra-competitive.

They just weren't competitive at all against Liverpool and it was the same in their home game against Manchester United at the start of December, which is quite unusual for a team managed by Alex McLeish.

Villa lost all three of those games, but it was only the Arsenal game where they gave it a good go, and also gave themselves a better chance of winning it. They really have got to go to Stoke and play the same way.

But because it is Stoke and because I don't know whether Darren Bent is going to be fit for Villa, I am backing Stoke to get back to winning ways.

Prediction: 2-1

TUESDAY

Swansea v QPR Swansea v QPR (1700 GMT)

QPR are on an absolutely awful run and you can see why they are already making noises about signings in January, because they look like they need them.

It is too easy to make chances against Rangers, and they don't score enough goals, which is not a great combination. I'm just surprised their manager Neil Warnock has not sounded off about some of their performances on TV yet, although he's probably already done so in the dressing room.

Swansea look very comfortable and they have not had to change their playing style since being promoted. Also, they have not made massive changes to their personnel, and instead have just bought one or two players here and there.

They know their style of play works in the top flight and they know they don't concede many goals. They have been very strong at home and I fancy them to continue that sort of form here.

Prediction: 2-0

Match preview

Norwich v Tottenham Norwich v Tottenham (1930 GMT)

Norwich have been on the road in their last couple of games against Wolves and Everton and keep picking up points. Canaries boss Paul Lambert has just got this vision where they will stay up by hook or by crook and in every single game he is analysing how to get the most out of it he can.

Unlike, say, QPR, Norwich score plenty of goals and they will be delighted to be ninth at Christmas.

But I'm sure Lambert reminds them every day about where Blackpool were at Christmas last season, or Hull a couple of seasons ago. You have to be very careful in the Premier League because things can take a turn for the worse very quickly. You can lose a couple of games, get a couple of injuries and a suspension and the next thing is you have lost five games and you are plummeting.

I think Lambert understands that, and if he doesn't then he only has to look at QPR because that is what is happening to them - they are falling like a stone.

Norwich might find it difficult against Tottenham, though. Lambert likes his side to have a go at teams at home and they do open up a bit when they try to get the service in to Grant Holt and Steve Morison. I just feel that Spurs will probably pick them off on the break.

It is looking like a two-horse race for the title between Manchester City and Manchester United. Tottenham are still in the mix at the top but when Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon are out they are not quite the same team.

They still have some very good players but take the pace of Lennon and Bale out of the team and the opposition can play narrower against you. That means Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor are not going to get the space that they need.

Prediction: 1-2
